Studies performed to date indicate that the elderly are at highest risk for chronic inflammatory diseases, malnutrition, pressure ulcers and non-healing wounds. Contributing factors include reduced nutrient uptake as a result of aging and poor nutrient intake due to a variety of conditions such as poor dentition, dysphagia, poverty, chronic illness, polypharmacy and depression. As a result, the likelihood of mortality for older individuals with wounds remains high. Younger individuals with inflammatory malnutrition also experience reduced nutrient uptake and intake due to los of gut integrity and anorexia both as a result of unrelieved inflammation.

      Typically used for, but not limited to meet the micronutrient needs of the nutritionally at risk, is formulated for individuals with increased metabolic stress, malabsorption, micronutrient deficiency and/or increased micronutrient needs for any reason, is ideal for diabetics, tube feeding administration and for individuals with difficulty swallowing pills.
